These inactive taxpayers are also counted as taxpayers of the country but they are not using their NTN for payment of taxes from several years. Regional Tax Office Multan has started implementing directions of FTO and they are scrutinizing their taxpayer’s record to remove useless NTN.

Federal Tax Ombudsman Abdur Rauf Chaudhry has issued new direction to all regional taxes offices including Multan to remove all inactive taxpayers from records. The removal of inactive tax payers from FBR records will give clear picture of existing active taxpayers in the country.

Most of the inactive taxpayers are also deceased which shall be excluded from FBR records very soon. This will also assist FBR to broaden their tax net by knowing the exact figures available of taxpayers.
