FAISALABAD: Prosperous Pakistan is imperative for the accomplishment of ideology of Pakistan and the business community has to play its reinvigorated role to achieve this cherished objective, said Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana.

He was addressing a condolence reference to pay homage to late Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, a renowned worker of Pakistan movement and pattern-in –chief of Anjman-e-Tajran.

He said that the nations are recognized in the comity of nations through their ideologies and it was encouraging that the workers of Pakistan movement had served nation with the unique commitment and missionary zeal. He paid best tribute to Sheikh Bashir Ahmed for services, he rendered for the cause of ideology of Pakistan and for the welfare of the business community.

He hoped that Faisalabad Chamber should continue his legacy of service by looking after the welfare projects initiated and supported by him.

He also lauded the contribution of business community for the promotion of education and said that a mosque has been completed with Rs 100 million from the donation of a local businessman in Government College University. Similarly, the local philanthropists are also generously extending educational scholarships to the needy students.

“This welfare approach was materialized only because Pakistan has given them sufficient wealth which they are now spending on their brethren”, he added.

“No doubt, government is duty bound to help out the poor but with the help of local business community and philanthropists, this task will be completed at a much faster pace while the businessmen in return would also get much needed spiritual satisfaction, he further added.

Quoting the example of Bill Gates, he said that he had allocated 80 to 90 percent of his wealth for the welfare projects. Similarly, if our businessmen resolve to help out the poor, there would be no one to get the charity. He said that the death of Sheikh Bashir Ahmed has deprived Faisalabad of a kind and committed personality but we should make a commitment to ourselves to follow his footprints by participating in welfare oriented projects.

He said that he is fully aware of the problems of business community and the doors of Governor House have been opened for everyone to visit and present his problem.

Earlier, Mian Muhammad Idrees, President Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry also acknowledged  the services of Sheikh Bashir Ahmed and said that he entered into chamber’s politics in 2015 when was elected president of FCCI. From that day, he remained an integral part of FCCI and continued to give us guidance and support in managing and resoling the problems of business community. He also told that he was a thorough gentleman by heart and played an important role in collecting relief goods for the earthquake and flood affectees. Being a true and patriotic Pakistani he remained involved in safe guarding the ideology of Pakistan throughout his life, he added.

Shahid Bashir of Nazria e Paksitan Trust Lahore also remembered the late Sheikh Bashir Ahmed and said that he offered to raise funds for the Awan e Quaid e Azam. I thought he was a big businessman but was surprised to know that he was only a mediocre but was staunch stand bearer of ideology of Pakistan; hence he played his due role in collecting donations for Awan e Quaid e Azam.

He said that most of workers of Pakistan movement were honest but a specific lobby is projecting them negatively. He said that the local businessmen should write a book on the life of Sheikh Bashir Ahmed as he was an asset for this country. He also paid tribute to Governor Punjab who is also working for the promotion of ideology of Pakistan in Multan.

Chaudhary Muhammad Nawaz President FCCI said that Sheikh Bashir Ahemd was a golden chapter in the history of Faisalabad and we must preserve his deeds and sacrifices by writing a book on him.
