Faisalabad Customs seizes smuggled items worth Rs 39m in November

FAISALABAD: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad successfully confiscated items worth Rs 39 million during the month of November. The seized items includes duty and taxes worth Rs 33 million.

Additional Director Intelligence and Investigation Azmat Tahira told Customs Today that these items were seized during different operations conducted in Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Field Information Unit in Khushab.

The smuggled items includes chilghoza ( pineuts ), Iranian juices, garments accessories consisting caps gloves, socks, jackets, valvet coat and casual shirts and miscleanous vehicles.

The additional director customs intelligance and investigation added that intelligance staff registered 8 vehicles seizure cases in the month of November,  while Five cases were registered by Faisalabad Region. That Vehicles brought into country without payment of custom duty and taxes.

Meanwhile three cases by FIU Khushab were detected. That vehicles were loaded with smuggled goods, incincluding Hino truck bearing Registration no. NAD-935 Hino Ranger (dumper) truck no. AE-1193 (Sukkar) and Hino Ranger truck No. TKB- 120 (Sibi). Azmat Tahira said that these vehicles seizure cases were referred to the customs adjudication for further legal action which including 3000000 duty and taxes.

Azmat Tahira said that Customs team asked the arrested persons to produce legal documents regarding possession of these items but they failed to provide the legal documents. After which the customs authorities registered separate cases against these persons and further investigations are still in progress.
