KARACHI: The Hyderabad Customs has foiled a bid to smuggled Iranian diesel and cloths during various raids in Hyderabad.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Hyderabad Sarfraz Warriach, after receiving information regarding smuggling of Iranian diesel, constituted a raiding team which intercepted a truck near Hyderabad and seized 5,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel. The market value of the seized diesel is Rs 500,000.
While during another crackdown customs authorities seized 12,000 yards of smuggled foreign origin cloth. The market value of seized cloth is Rs 1.7 million. Sources said that customs authorities gears up their efforts to curb menace in the area during the month of December.
It is pertinent to mention here, that customs authorities also successfully seized 35,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel in November and destroyed five illegal petrol pumps which are operating in the area.
