KINGSTON: The Jamaica Customs Agency is urging persons doing business at its Newport East office in Kingston as well as at its other locations to exercise caution during this yuletide season.
The warning comes as the agency says there have been a number of robberies and attempted robberies in and around the downtown Kingston commercial district.
The agency is encouraging its customers to utilise the non-cash payment options available at customs or through their financial institutions.
It is also urging persons to utilise the Customs car park and to request the assistance of the police or private security when transporting large sums of cash to and from financial institutions.
Customs says those who withdraw money before going to the Customs Agency should stay on alert when leaving these institutions and ensure that they are not being followed especially by men on motor cycles.
