SUVA: Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority officers were on hand to intercept a parcel containing methamphetamine at the Post Office in Suva.
The drug, concealed inside a shampoo bottle, was sent from the United States and was addressed to a local woman.
FRCA acting CEO Visvanath Das said the suspect went to the post office to collect the parcel but fled when questioned by Customs officers.
She was later identified through her tax identification number (TIN).
“I commend our officers for carrying out their duties diligently in ensuring our borders are protected from the infiltration of illicit drugs,” Mr Das said.
“The seizure is also a warning to all those unscrupulous traders wanting to bring in illegal drugs that FRCA officers and police are vigilant in their work to ensure borders are safe.” The seized parcel was handed to police for further investigations.
