Sindh Excise to launch token tax strickers next year: Esrani

KARACHI: Provincial Miniser for Excise and Taxation Gyan Singh Esrani has said that in the beginning of new year, the Excise Department will issue new number plates for registered vehicles while his department will also launch token tax stickers.

He was answering to questions of members of the Sindh Assembly. He assured the members that there will be no complaint by customers regarding issuing of new number plates.

He said that the Sindh Excise collected Rs 32 billion during fiscal year 2013-14 while Rs 35.530 million were collected during fiscal year 2014-15. He informed the members of provincial assembly that from June, 30 2010 to June 20, 2014, at least 1,181,988 vehicles were registered by the department. He said that 760,629 vehicles were registered in Karachi, which includes 898,345 motorcycles.

Replying to a question, he said that from July 2013 to May 2014 total 751,867 motorcycles paid motor vehicles tax and the department issued tax token stickers to them. He said that from 2008 to 2012 total 651 new persons were appointed in the department.
