KUWAIT: The Sea Borders Security Department found 56 items suspected of being drugs, following a tip from an undercover source about an attempt to smuggle drugs by sea. A bag was found, and when opened, well-sealed cases containing the material were found. The material was sent to concerned authorities for testing. Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Sea Borders Security Affairs Major General Zuhair Al-Nasrallah and Acting Director General of Coast Guard Directorate Colonel Saleh Al-Foudary went to Sabah Al-Ahmad Naval Base and inspected the material. Nasrallah thanked all workers at the sea security department for their efforts.
A 33-year-old Syrian man committed suicide by hanging in Jleeb Al-Shuyiukh, his friend told police. Meanwhile, a 35-year-old Pakistani man was killed when his car flipped over on King Fahd road.
A citizen in his fifties was stabbed to death when he attempted to break up a fight. The citizen arrived dead at Adan Hospital. Investigations revealed the victim attempted to break up a fight during a party, and was stabbed by mistake by a citizen, who is at large. Detectives arrested most of those who were present, including a girl.
A bedoon man was sent to the drugs prosecution for trading in liquor. He was arrested with six cartons of liquor after selling four bottles to an undercover agent. Meanwhile, Andalus police arrested two Indian men for selling drugs and liquor. The two were arrested in a taxi, in which 10 locally-made liquor bottles were found. They were sent to concerned authorities. In the meantime, Ahmadi detectives arrested a Bangladeshi man with 60 bottles of homebrewed liquor, and a drunk Indian man in front of a residential complex in Mahboula. Both were sent to concerned authorities.
Jahra police authorities carried out a campaign along Kabd Road, resulting in impounding seven vehicles and six abandoned ATVs.
Chairman of the Food Safety Committee at the Municipality Fahad Al-Musabbahi said a decision was made on Nov 1, 2015 to ban the import of poultry meat (fresh, processed, cooled, frozen) and table eggs from Portugal. He also said another decision was issued banning the import of poultry products from Ghana and Ivory Coast due to bird flu. Musabbahi said the committee asked the commerce ministry representative to follow the issuance of a ministerial decision to lift the ban on importing poultry meat from Holland, because it is free of birds flu and the decision to lift the ban on importing bovine meat from Brazil, provided that a certificate from the country of origin stating that the meat is free of mad cow disease is submitted along with other required certificates. The ban will also be lifted on importing poultry products from the US.
