Hire private guards: Top cop excuses from security to shopping mall, outlets as RCCI delegates meet him

RAWALPINDI: What is being described as inability to provide security to the business community, the city police asked the traders to hire private security guards for security of shopping malls and other business outlets.

“We have limited resources and with such a meager wherewithal the police are not in a position to guard the business houses and shopping malls,” declared City Police Officer (CPO) Humayun Bashir while talking to a delegation of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI). The businessmen called on the top cop to apprise him of the poor law and order in the garrison city.

The RCCI delegation led by its president Syed Asad Mashadi informed the CPO that incidents of theft and robbery in business outlets were on the rise and it seemed there was no law in the city.

Mashadi said the incidents of kidnapping for ransom, murder and robbery had increased in the past few months and businessmen remained r target of kidnappers.
