DEL RIO: U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Comstock Station arrested a Salvadoran national fitting the description of a man wanted by authorities in El Salvador for murder.
“The apprehension of this individual highlights the cooperation between foreign governments in bringing dangerous criminals to justice,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Rodolfo Karisch. “I commend our agents for the hard work and vigilance.”
On Dec. 30, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Comstock Station responded to a call-in report by Sutton County Sheriff’s Office regarding possible undocumented aliens along Interstate 10 near Sonora. Agents responded and encountered six individuals, one being a 24-year-old male Salvadoran national. That subject and the five other individuals were then transported to the Comstock Border Patrol Station for processing in accordance with CBP guidelines. Record checks revealed the 24-year-old was a possible match to the subject of a law enforcement bulletin seeking a man wanted for the murder of two individuals in El Salvador. Record checks also revealed that the subject was charged with “criminal trespass causing injury or damage” in 2011, in Des Moines, Iowa, sentenced to 30 days confinement, and subsequently deported.
The subject is being processed for 8 USC § 1326 – re-entry after deportation – and his prior order of removal will be reinstated.
The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is part of the Joint Task Force-West South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
