MULTAN: During an action, Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized two tankers of Iranian-origin smuggled diesel oil.
According to details, smugglers were transporting diesel oil from Quetta to DG Khan through Rakhni, Sakhi Sarwar through two Hino trucks, one of which was bearing registration No. TKW-223/Quetta but the second truck had no registration number.
Additional Director Customs Intelligence and InvestigationsI Nisar Ahmad received information that bags of wheat straw have been loaded on top of the subject trucks and high speed deisel has been concealed in a specially designed oil tanker fitted inside cavity of the truck.
The staff of the Directorate Intelligence and Investigation FIU, D.G Khan was deputed to intercept the loaded trucks. Customs staff reached Girdu, Rakhi Gaj (Tribal Area of D.G Khan) and found that the said trucks were parked there due to some mechanical fault. The driver and cleaner of the subject truck were around and customs teams learnt from the local persons that they had gone to employ services of some mechanic for repairing the vehicle.
Meanwhile, during the search the Customs team suspected that some bags of wheat straw were loaded on top and three specially designed valves were fitted under the body of the truck for removal of diesel from the oil tanker. The subject truck was accordingly taken into the custody on the spot. The staff got services of a mechanic form D.G Khan and brought the truck to the Range office Multan where HSD concealed in the oil tanker was measured which led to recovery of 48000 liters diesel worth Rs.3.6 million from one oil tanker and 46000 liters diesel worth Rs 3.2 million from the other truck. The value of the seized oil tankers is Rs 11 million.
Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Nisar Ahmad told Customs Today that we are more vigilant in the jurisdiction and committed to curb smuggling from the region.He told that Customs I&I doing immediate response to any suspicious movement in order to restrain smuggling and we will continue our action against smugglers to conclude smuggling from region.
