ASO Superintendent Mumtaz Ajmal Mian transferred

LAHORE: Collector of Customs Lahore Preventive Mukarram Jah Ansari has transferred Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Superintendent Mumtaz Ajmal Mian.

According to detail, the collector transferred Mumtaz Ajmal Mian and appointed Superintendent Munawar Khan as ASO Superintendent. Munawar Khan was earlier serving superintendent at Air Freight Unit.

Superintendent Mumtaz Ajma Mian has been transferred to Customs Investigation and Prosecution section. He worked for the ASO for about one and a half year.

The out-going superintendent has undertaken a number of operations against the smugglers and smuggling activities in and around the Lahore city and seized illegally imported goods articles.

The major crackdowns which are considered risky were under taken under the supervision of the superintendent included operation at three major markets including Abid Market, Nila Gunbad and Bilal Gunj.

The ASO in the operations seized millions of rupees smuggled goods and article including transit electronics goods, bicycles tyres and rims.

The operation, however, triggered wide spread protest demonstrations by the traders but were wildly appreciated by the department as a land mark performance.
