KARACHI: The Ministry of Ports and Shipping has demanded reduction in the rates of duty on the import of boats, which will be used to launch Pak-Iran Ferry Service.
Ports and Shipping Minister Kamran Michael has asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to direct the Ministry of Finance to reduce the duty tax on import of boats.
Officials said that the ministry has planned to import the boats for launching ferry service, adding that due to high rate of taxes the project is not yet realized.
The Shipping Ministry wanted to launch the ferry service for Iran and UAE by March but it needed relaxation on import of boats.
