Customs Adjudication to hear tax evasion case of Rs 254m against Fatima Fertilizer today ‏

MULTAN, JAN 11: Collector Customs Adjudication will hear two tax evasion cases of Fatima Fertilizer Company due to their remand from Collector Appeal.

Customs Tribunal Appeal has recently forwarded two cases against Fatima Fertilizer for proceeding in the Customs Adjudication after accepting their plea.

According to details, Fatima Fertilizer had done import clearance of few consignments from Multan Dry Port .The imported items involved were deformed steel bars consumed in the mechanical plants of fertilizer. Customs Post Clearance Audit Lahore had formed tax evasion during scrutiny of clearance . Customs Adjudication decided both tax evasion cases against Fatima Fertilizer company after proceeding of cases and they were directed to submit differential amount for their import consignment of worth Rs 140.910 and Rs 113.06 million respectively in cases. PCA had formed contraventions in  both cases after thorough scrutiny of their import batches.

After hearing both misdeclaration cases Customs Tribunal Appeal issued decision in favor of Fatima Fertilizer Company due legal infirmity in the case. Meanwhile both tax evasion cases against Fatima Fertilizer are worth Rs 254 million.

Both Cases are remanded back to Customs Adjudication and their hearing will be held on 12th January (today). Collector Customs Adjudication Raja Tahir Majeed will proceed hear the both remanded cases for their again hearing for the readdresses of  respondent grievances.
