JOHOR BAHRU: A massive drug shipment due for export to Singapore and Indonesia was seized during a police operation in Johor Bahru last week.

The drugs – 58kg of Ecstasy in powder form, 5,290 Ecstasy pills and 1kg of syabu (the colloquial name for the psycho-stimulant drug called amphetamine) – were found in a house in Taman Pelangi, which allegedly operated as a “mini drug lab”.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigations Department director Mokhtar Shariff told reporters at a press conference on Monday that two men, aged 37 and 40, had been arrested.

The raid was part of a larger operation conducted last Friday and Saturday.

Four other male suspects were arrested in raids on premises at Jalan Sutera, Taman Century, Taman Daya and Bandar Baru Permas Jaya.
