KARACHI: Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, during a crackdown, has seized smuggled jeeps and forged number plates.
Sources told Customs Today that the jeeps were being smuggled from Karachi to Afghanistan via Chaman border. Sources said that customs authorities received information about the smuggling attempt. The ASO team intercepted a truck and during searching process recovered two jeeps with forge number plates.
When customs team asked the driver of the vehicle to produce legal documents regarding possession of jeeps but he failed to produce any relevant and legal documents. During initial investigations he informed the customs team that he was ordered from his bosses to deliver these jeeps in Karachi. Customs team seized the jeeps and started investigations.
