ANF seizes 23kg heroin, 68kg charas in 16 countrywide raids

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) seized huge quantity of drugs, including 23kg heroin, 10kg Ice (refined methamphetamine), 68kg charas and 200g opium, worth Rs 337.8 million in 16 countrywide operations.

During operations, the ANF also arrested 20 alleged drug traffickers and impounded four vehicles.

According to details, the ANF Rawalpindi airport team detained a passenger, namly Muhammad Basharat, a resident of Gujrat, at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, while he was about to proceed for Madrid (Spain) by Emirates Airline Flight No EY234 and recovered 5.4kg heroin concealed in his passenger bag.

The team, during a routine profiling at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, also arrested an accused named Anwar Ali, hailing from Swat and, recovered 500 gram Ice concealed from his bag. The accused was scheduled to fly for Jeddah by Saudi Airlines Flight No. SV-721. The ANF team, at the same airport, arrested an accused namely Muhammad Imran, a resident of Khushab, and recovered 1.3kg Ice concealed in his bag. The accused intended to fly for Doha by Qatar Airlines flight No. QR-633.

The ANF intercepted a UK-bound parcel containing curtains at a courier service office, Dina and recovered 500 gram heroin concealed inside the curtains. After initial investigations, the sender of the parcel namly Aqeel Aslam, a resident of Gujrat, was also arrested. The team also arrested an accused identified as Zubair Khan, resident of Peshawar near Chakwal Morr, Main GT Road, Sohawa, and recovered 1.2kg charas.

The ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Motorcycle near Dar-ul-Islam Colony, Attock and arrested AteeqAli along with 1.2kg charas. A road-check team arrested Javed Iqbal, resident of Mandi Baha-ud-Din from Dina, Jhelum, and recovered 1.2 kg charas and 200 gram opium from his personal possession. The ANF Rawalpindi arrested Noor Muhammad, a resident of Peshawar from Sohawa, and recovered 3kg charas from his personal possession.

The ANF airport team arrested a woman namly Naseem Bibi, accompanied by her husband Muhammad Bashir, residents of Sargodha, from Faisalabad Airport and recovered 8 kg amphetamine (Ice) concealed in two briefcases. The accused was intended to fly for Jeddah.

The ANF personal intercepted a vehicle near Kabirwala and recovered 7 kg heroin concealed in it and also arrested the occupants of the vehicle namly Nadeem, Afzal, and Riaz. The ANF Lahore carried out an information-based operation at village Minhala near Wahga, which resulted in recovery of 10 kg heroin and arrest of an accused Muhammad Amin.

An ANF road-check team intercepted a Mehran Car registered No.LWA-615 near Haroon Express bus stand, Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore, and recovered 25.2 kg charas from secret cavities of the car. A person onboard namely Abid Hussain, resident of Peshawar, was arrested on the spot. The ANF team captured a car near Thokar Niaz Baig and recovered 24kg charas concealed inside the vehicle, also arresting Safeer Khan and Shakeel Ahmed both residents of Mohamand Ageny.

The ANF Peshawar arrested an accused Muhammad Saleem near motorway toll plaza, Peshawar, and recovered 12 kg charas from his personal possession of the accused.

The ANF Karachi, during routine profiling at Jinnah International Airport, arrested an individual namely Syed Asif Qadri on suspicious of having gulped heroin-filled capsules. The accused intended to fly for Colombo by Air Linka Airlines Flight No. UL-184. The ANF also arrested a local drug peddler namly Muzaffar Ali along with 2kg charas from Muhammadi Morr, Hyderabad.

All the cases were registered at the respective ANF police stations and further investigations are underway.
