ISLAMABAD: Waqar Ahmed Chohan, Assistant Inspector General of Special Branch has said that his organisation will take all possible measures to further boost security in the federal capital.
Addressing a meeting at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), he said that businessmen were playing important role in the economic development of the country and the special branch will take all necessary steps to ensure a peaceful environment for business community in Islamabad.
He said that the special branch would also ensure early security clearance for visiting foreign entrepreneurs. About entry of businessmen into diplomatic enclave, he said that the ICCI should send just an SMS and entry would be ensured as soon as possible.
He said though special branch was facing problems like lack of resources and staff, however, it was fully prepared to cope with any security challenge in the federal capital. He was of the view that the regular interaction between the business community and police was essential to make the security apparatus more efficient and effective.
In his welcome address, ICCI Acting President M Shakeel Munir highlighted the problems of the business community and said that close liaison between business community and police force was vital for the promotion of business activities.
He lauded the role of the special branch for assisting the government in policy formulation, ensuring security of life and property of the people and maintenance of law and order. He said that secure environment was essential to attract business and investment in the region and stressed that special branch should utilise all its resources to ensure protection of life and property of businessmen as well as the general public.
