Customs Court approves judicial remand of accused involved in smuggling of BOPP film

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti Smuggling has issued a 30-day judicial remand of a suspect involved in smuggling of Biaxial Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) film from Afghanistan to Faisalabad.

Accused Mubarak Sheikh was caught red handed by the customs intelligence team when he was trying to smuggle BOPP films in Faisalabad.

Sources told Customs Today that the Customs authorities arrested Mubarak Sheikh and recovered smuggled material wroth Rs 4.5 million. Now the special court of Chaudary Ameer Muhammad Khan has sent the accused to jail for one month on the judicial trial.

As per details, a Customs team raided a warehouse and recovered two trucks loaded with smuggled items. the warehouse was also owned by Mubarak Sheikh. The Customs authorities asked him to produce legal documents of the BOPP film but he failed to produce the same.

The Customs authorities arrested him and registered a case against him under section 2 (2), 16, 18, 132 A, 156 89 and 178 of Customs Act of Pakistan 1969.
