Customs Court sends two alleged smugglers on 14-day remand

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent two suspects, allegedly involved in smuggling of LED TVs and cloth from Peshawar to Lahore, on judicial remand.

According to the details, the accused smuggler named Behram Khan and Meer Zaman were detained by Customs Intelligence during a raid on Motorway near Shera Kot following the recovery of smuggled LED TVs and cloth. The alleged smugglers used to smuggle items into Pakistan from Afghanistan.

The officials had seized 138 sets of LED TVs and smuggled cloths weighing 1,200 kilogram and other items, besides impounding a truck bearing Registration No, LWC 8153 during the raid.

On Monday, Special Judge Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan ordered to send the suspects on a 14-day judicial remand again for further trial.

A case number 401/2015 has been registered against them under Section 66, 156, 85, 89, 90, 157 and 178 of Pakistan Customs Act, 1969.
