Abdullah Sugar Mills scam: Customs Court adjourns pre-arrest bail pleas of two directors

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has adjourned pre-arrest bail pleas of two directors of Abdullah Sugar Mills in tax evasion case.

Sources told Customs Today that two directors of Abdullah Sugar Mills are involved in customs duty evasion on import of machinery for the mills. Now two directors of the mills, Zia Mustafa and Raza Mustafa, have move the Customs Court for their pre-arrest bail. On Thursday, Chaudary Ameer Muhammad Khan Khan heard their pre-arrest bail plea and after hearing the lawyers arguments, the Customs Court rescheduled the case for February 4 for further hearing.

Earlier, the Federal Board of Revenue had detected that Abdullah Sugar Mills was allegedly involved in evasion of customs duty on import of machinery from different countries. After investigations, the FBR intelligence had also raided many times at the residence of the owners of Abdullah Sugar Mills but they could not be arrested. The authorities have been trying to arrest them since November 2015  when tax evasion was detected.
