LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has issued arrest warrants against two suspects for smuggling of gold from Lahore Airport to Gulf state.
Sources told Customs Today that Rana Tahir and Humayon Akram were allegedly involved in smuggling of gold from Lahore airport to Dubai. In the same case, Muhammad Rizwan is already in judicial custody. Customs authorities arrested Rizwan at the Allama Iqbal International Airport when he was trying to smuggle seven kilogram gold worth Rs 30 million.
Sources said that Rana Tahir and Humayon Akram were allegedly supporting Rizwan. During the investigation, Rizwan revealed that these two persons were supporting him and he was working for them to smuggle gold.
Customs authorities have registered a case against them under section 2 (2), 16, 139, 156, (8), (20), 175 and 178 of Pakistan Customs Act 1969.
For coordination with customs investigation team and to record their statements before the court, Customs court has also issued many notices for appearing in court but they are still fled.
