Sialkot Customs Intelligence steps up to stop selling of imported cigarettes

SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has launched a campaign against selling of foreign cigarettes, which are brought into the country without the payment of duty/taxes causing loss to the national exchequer.

Reportedly, a team of Customs Intelligence raided shops of cigarettes’ sellers in order to capture the non-duty paid cigarettes of different brands, including Pine, More, Dunhill etc. The officials also warned the traders of action if anyone found involved in selling of notified items.

Talking to Customs Today, an official of Customs Intelligence, Rashid told that the government has imposed ban on selling of the said imported cigarettes; therefore, a crackdown has been launched.

He further said that the department will not accept any pressure for releasing of guilty shopkeeper rather department will complete process against the said shopkeeper according to customs law.
