Sialkot excise seals 550 properties due to tax evasion

SIALKOT: The special teams of Excise and Taxation Department have sealed 550 commercial and residential properties in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Pasrur and surrounding areas due to the non-payment of their pending arrears.

District Officer Excise and Taxation Sialkot Ch Muzaffar Qayyum told Customs Today that Excise and Taxation Department has yet collected as many as Rs 100 million as motor registration fees and token taxes during the last seven months of the fiscal year 2015-16, besides, registering 40,000 motorcycles and 300 cars and other vehicles during this period in Sialkot district. He said that the department has achieved 100 percent official target by collecting Rs 100 million as the motor registration fees and token taxes in just seven months of the running fiscal year.

He said that the excise has also yet recovered Rs 147 million as property tax from the defaulters in Sialkot district during the seven months of fiscal year 2015-16, which was Rs 30 million more than the recovery of the last year 2014-15 here.

He said that the department has also recovered Rs 12.5 million as professional taxes in Sialkot district during this period of seven months of the running fiscal year.
