Excise police seize 3,000 liter raw alcohol at Punjab-Sindh border

LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation police seized almost 3,000 liters raw alcohol at Punjab-Sindh border the other day, Customs Today learnt on Tuesday.

A tanker that was going to Sukkurr was checked by the Excise Police at Punjab-Sindh Border Check Post. Police seized dozens of barrels containing almost 3000 liters raw alcohol.
According ETO Zulafiqar Ali Samijhu and Inspector Excise Hassan Ali, Excise Police are checking every vehicle coming from Punjab.

Talking to the media, Zulfiqar Ali Samijhu said as per the directions of Provincial Excise and Taxation Minister Ghian Chand, every vehicle is being checked by the Excise Police. Dozens of people in different parts of Sindh have died by consuming raw and impure alcohol. More than 60 people have died in Karachi and almost 49 people died in Hyderabad. According to the excise officials, three alcohol smugglers have also been arrested by excise police and sent behind the bars. Alcohol samples have been sent to laboratory for further testing.
