FBR to take action against officials involved in issuance of fake refund claims

SIALKOT: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to take action against the officers involved in giving fake and bogus refund worth millions of rupees to the taxpayers.

Sources told Customs Today that the FBR has received a report from the Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation, Inland Revenue, revealing that fake and bogus refunds have been issued to the taxpayers in connivance with the officers.

In the said report, the officers who are involved in this scam are also identified besides the amount of bogus refunds. The sources told that strict disciplinary action already recommended against the officers involved in issuance of bogus refunds to the tax payers. The sources further told that the cases of these officers have been scrutinized in order to be able to take action against them.
