LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has extended a 14-day judicial remand of a suspect who was arrested in Faisalabad.
According to details, Niaz Muhammad was arrested by customs authorities in smuggling scam. Earlier, he was produced before the court where Customs Court accepted his physical remand of three days for investigation. Now he was again produced in the Customs Court where the court accepted his judicial remand for another 14 days and sent him to jail.
Earlier, he was booked by the Customs authorities when Customs Intelligence found him guilty in smuggling of cloths. The Customs team also asked him to prove that these recovered items are legally imported but he failed to produce legal receipts and import record of the cloth.
Customs Faisalabad seized all the cloth and arrested him. According to data presented before the Court by Customs authorities value of the smuggled clothes is Rs 8 million. Clothes are smuggled through KPK Peshawar route from Afghanistan and most of the cloth is Chinese and Korean origin.
The Customs authorities registered a case against suspect under Pakistan Customs Act 1969.
