Vodafone Ireland chief executive Anne O’Leary said that performance continues the “positive upward momentum”.

During the period the company’s fixed business continued to perform strongly with revenue growth of 12.9pc.

Overall, Vodafone Ireland increased both its fixed and mobile customers bases during the quarter adding 13,000 mobile customers and 6,000 fixed broadband customers. Vodafone launched LightSpeed Broadband during the three-month period as part of the company’s joint venture with ESB.

“The introduction of Vodafone LightSpeed Broadband during the period, as well as the more recent launch of Vodafone TV, signals a significant move towards delivering on our vision of Ireland as a gigabit society – connecting and digitising communities with high quality services at high speeds,” Ms O’Leary said.

The news comes after Vodafone announced its annual results for last year and a new share-selling scheme targeted at those who received share in the company after the sale of Eircell.
