Appraisement West decides to increase numbers of CCTV cameras in hall

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Appraisement-West has decided to increase the numbers of close circuit television cameras (CCTV) in appraisement hall in order to keep strict vigilance on the working of the Customs officials in the hall.

Sources told Customs Today that around 35 cameras have already been installed in the appraisement hall of the Appraisement West to overview the performance of the appraising officers. They added that Collector Appraisement (West) Dr Owais Agha Jawwad has decided to increase the number of cameras in appraisement hall.

It is pertinent to mention here that the former Collector- Appraisement (West) Muhammad Saleem was taken an initiative to install CCTV cameras in appraisement hall to evaluate the working of appraising officers.

In the reign of former Collector Appraisement (West) Muhammad Saleem, the CCTV cameras were also installed at Karachi International Contianers’ Terminal (KICT), BOML and Al-Hamd terminals in order to keep vigilant eye on clearance of the consignments.

The incumbent Collector Appraisement (West) Dr Owais Agha Jawwad keeping the plights of the importers and improve the working of evaluation and examination has decided to multiply the numbers of CCTV cameras.
