Talking to Customs Today, Abdul Khaliq said that around 28 countries out of 57 member states of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) were not holding office of tax ombudsman. The practice of holding tax ombudsman office was rare among Muslim countries despite the fact that its conception was made by a Muslim ruler (Khalifa).

He said the purpose of writing letters to Muslim countries, other than those having offices of tax ombudsman, was to pursuing them for establishment of tax ombudsman offices as the rest of the world had.

Expressing the hope to enhance the number of members from Muslim world, Abdul Khaliq said that Pakistan officials were putting expeditious efforts for promoting tax culture and exporting it to Muslim fraternity.
