Sialkot Excise issues final recovery notices to 14,000 big defaulters

SIALKOT: The Excise and Taxation Department has issued final recovery notices to as many as 14,000 big defaulters including 700 big property dealers, bricks kilns owners, rice mills and factories in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad  and Gujranwala districts.

According to the senior officials of the department, the special teams have tightened screws on the defaulters and issued the final recovery notices to 14,000 big defaulters in Gujranwala Division, advising them to ensure the early payment of their pending professional taxes within a week.

The officials added that the excise department would seal the properties of the defaulters after the final deadline dates given them, besides, getting the sealed properties confiscated through the local courts as well.

Excise and Taxation Officer (ET) Fiza Shah told that the special recovery teams of the excise department would launch a vigorous recovery campaign against the professional tax defaulters in Gujranwala Division from Monday (today) in Gujranwala Division , saying that the excise team have yet collected as many as Rs. 35 million as professional tax from the local tax payers during the first eight months of the running fiscal year 2015-16 against the fixed official recovery target of  Rs. 74.8 million given by the Punjab government to Gujranwala Division for the running fiscal year, in this regard.
