ISLAMABAD: Differences between officials of Customs Intelligence and dry port regarding lab tests of imported fabric have been settled.

The two departments have also signed an agreement in this regard. The Islamabad Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) has expedited measures to set up a lab at the dry port to settle the rift forever. The MCC has also decided to submit an application in light of a letter it had written in the past for setting up of a lab at the dry port.

According to sources, the customs officials were sending fabric to Lahore for lab tests to which the Customs Intelligence and Investigation officials objected and showed their reservations regarding lab results. The intelligence officials insisted that fabric should be sent to Faisalabad for the lab test. This led to differences between the two departments and the intelligence officials started re-checking containers after being cleared from the port.

However, the rift was resolved after the customs high-ups intervened. The port officials have shown their willingness to get the fabric tested from Faisalabad. Fabric samples will now be sent to Faisalabad.
