Rs 3.38/unit cut recommended

ISLAMABAD: The Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA) has recommended Rs3.38 per unit cut in electricity tariffs from March.

The CPPA forwarded a summary in this regard to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra), recommending the reduction under the monthly fuel adjustment of January.

According to the summary, per unit cost of electricity production through high speed diesel was Rs12.20, through furnace oil Rs6.28 and gas Rs6.01 during January. Similarly, the cost of nuclear electricity production was Rs1.12 per unit, while the power imported from Iran cost Rs10.60 per unit. The reference price decided for January was Rs9.86 per unit.

The CCPA, in its summary, said the average power production was recorded at Rs6.48 per unit, and recommended the Nepra to give a relief of Rs3.38 per unit to the people in March.
