MOSCOW: Moscow and Kiev have come to an agreement on freight traffic between their two countries, which was suspended earlier this month, Russia’s Transport Ministry said in a statement Wednesday.
Last week, the Russian Transport Ministry approached the Ukrainian government with a proposal that both countries lift restrictions on cargo transportation.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk said Wednesday that Kiev had accepted the offer and will take relevant actions on the basis of reciprocity, the Interfax news agency reported. The agreement will come into effect on Feb. 25.
Russia suspended Ukrainian freight traffic on Feb.14 after a number of Russian trucks transiting through the country’s territory were blocked by Ukrainian activists.
