Faisalabad ASO impounds items worth Rs 9.25m in February

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has recovered smuggled items worth Rs 9.25 millions during the third week of February, 2016.

Sources informed Customs Today that Collector Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary formed many teams to foil smuggling attempts. These teams conducted various raids under the supervision of Deputy Collector Falik Shair which also included Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Javed Mehmood, inspector Sardar Muhammad, Masood Saeed Chohan, Abdul Jabbar and Zulafiqar Ali, Hafiz Naseer Ahmed, Muhammad Abdullah (sepoys) and Afzal Hussain (driver).

The ASO team successfully seized food grains, foreign origin tea, and detained two vehicles which were brought into the country without payments of customs duty and taxes.

Sources said that the accused persons failed to produce any legal documents regarding possession of vehicles and items. Now ASO authorities forwarded cases of seizure to customs adjudication.
