Port Qasim Industrial Zone lacks infrastructure

KARACHI: Due to lack of infrastructure at Port Qasim Industrial Zone, citizens face a lot of hardships. All roads leading to the industrial zone are in bad shape and require the attention of high-ups. This is the main reason that investors are avoiding to establish industries there.

Talking to Customs Today, a trader said that an industrial zone reflects the economic progress of that any country, but “we are facing an opposite situation”. The Port Qasim Industrial Area lacks basic infrastructure. One can find damaged roads and leaked sewerage system everywhere in the locality.

This area is covered with 12,250 acres of land. Port Qasim Industrial Zone charge Rs 50,000 per acre from this industrial zone annually but failed upgrade the infracture.
