Appraisement-West issues ‘assessment alert’ on import of glass tubing

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement-West has issued an ‘assessment alert’ on import of glass tubing of a kind from Europe and China. The items is used by manufacturers of ampoules .

In this regard, Deputy Collector Mehwish Shah has issued an assessment alert which read as: “The available data pertaining to glass tubing of a kind used for the manufacturing of ampoules classified under PCT heading 7002.3910, imported from Europe and China has been scrutinized.”

“The data for the last 90 days was examined in details in order to eliminate any discrimination and maintain uniformity. The declared values of European origin vary in the range starting from $1.71 per kilogram to $1.81 and values of China origin, vary in the range $1.1904/kg to $0.485/kg,” the letter adds.

“It has, therefore, been decided that average value of $1.70/kg for European origin and $1/kg for China origin is to be applied on the imports of the subject item. However, where the transaction value is higher than the above fixed value/criteria, assessment shall be finalized on transaction value. All concerned are hereby directed to finalize the assessment on the basis of value/criteria so fixed till further orders. Any deviation/lapse in this regard shall be viewed seriously”, letter concluded.
