Extension in tax amnesty scheme receives positive response

ISLAMABAD: Business community in the country has widely hailed the extension in filing of tax returns under Voluntarily Tax Amnesty Scheme (VTAS).

Sources informed Customs Today that during the last five days a sizable numbers of traders submitted their tax returns under this scheme. Sources said that until February 29 only a few thousands tax returns were filed but after the extension the number of tax returns have doubled. The FBR is considering that in view of this extension if the same ratio of filing returns is witnessed in the future they will definitely extend the deadline.

Sources said that FBR authorities are optimistic that number of tax returns under VTAS will touch to one lakh. It is pertinent to mention here that FBR established operation room who is compiling the data of tax returns who are being filed through this scheme on daily basis.

FBR authorities are also considering to start a campaign to apprise traders about the benefits of this scheme and soon FBR high-ups will visit different chambers in this regard.
