IR Intelligence detects Rs 50m tax evasion by National Medical Centre

KARACHI: The Inland Revenue (IR) unit of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation has detected tax evasion of Rs 50 million by National Medical Centre, it is learnt here.

A team of Intelligence and Investigation has started investigation against the hospital for manipulating the document to get benefits of millions of rupees in wake of taxes.

The officers are thoroughly examining the documents of the hospital, which were seized during a raid. On the other hand, it is expected that the IR team, taking a stern action against the hospital, will soon lodge an FIR and arrest of the hospital staff involved in the tax evasion.

Source in the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation informed Customs Today that the National Medical Centre management manipulated their record to evade income tax.

When contacted the hospital, it was informed by staff of the Administration Department that Dr Umer Jang, the focal person in the hospital, was not feeling well and was absent from his duty.
