Customs Intelligence seeks Rs 2 million to complete Sadiqabad office

MULTAN: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has asked the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to issue funds for early completion of Sadiqabad office, which will prove helpful in curbing smuggling.

Officials told Customs Today that building of Sadiqabad Customs Intelligence was under construction and its grey structure has been completed, adding that more funds were required to complete the project.

They said that the land for the office was acquired with the cooperation of Pakistan Tobacco Company in order to enhance surveillance and keep an eye on the movements of imported goods. They said that a summary has been sent to the FBR, demanding Rs 2 million for the project.

Meanwhile, Customs Intelligence Director Saud Imran and Deputy Director Naveed ur Rehman Bughvi visited the under construction office of Sadiqbad to check the development.

Director Saud Imran also met to officials and directed them to work actively against the smuggling activities to gain results. The surveillances should be enhanced in the region to monitor the various suspected routes.
