Customs Intelligence seizes 23 luxury vehicles in February

LAHORE: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations has seized 23 luxury vehicles worth Rs 40 million, involving millions of rupees duty and taxes in February 2016.

Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence Saud Imran received information that some smuggled luxury vehicles are plying on roads. He formed special teams with instructions to adopt zero tolerance policy against smugglers.

The Customs intelligence team, acting upon the instructions of the director, conducted operations against non-customs paid vehicles and seized 23 high value vehicles including BMWs, Mercedes, Mark-X Land Cruisers, V8 and Premios.

The vehicles were seized from various areas of city including Ravi Road, Model Town Gulberg Moon Market, Defense and Riwnd Raod  and others.

The Customs Intelligence team that undertook operation was led by Additional Collector Rizwan Salabat and DC Saad Atta Rani. Superintendent Muhammad Rauf and Intelligence Officer Mobeen Malik were also part of the operation against the smugglers.
