ISLAMABAD: The Directorate General of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation has stepped up its campaign to curb smuggling .
Sources informed Customs Today that Customs intelligence started anti-smuggling campaign from February 17, while the authorities registered 119 cases of smuggling until March 28 and recovered an amount of Rs 62 million during the period.
The seized items includes cigarettes, black tea, foreign origin cloth, species, electronics items, LEDs, blankets, and vehicles. Customs authorities Rawalpindi recovered smuggled items worth Rs 7 million during the month of February, March and registered six cases of smuggling.
Sources said that Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Imtiaz Ahmad Khan taking keen interest to curb smuggling across the country.
