Multan RTO receives 481 returns with Rs 46.6m tax under VTCS

MULTAN: The Regional Tax Office (RTO) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has received as many as 481 returns under the Voluntary Tax Compliance Scheme (VTCS) until March 31, 2016.

The Multan RTO received 36 tax returns with tax collection of Rs 4.16 million from various regions on 31st. The department is making all out efforts to attract business community by conducting various seminars to aware the non-filers about the salient features of the VTCS in the region, officials said.

The department has set up various desks to facilitate the new taxpayers, they said, adding that efforts were proven fruitful as the number of taxpayers was increasing with the passing of everyday. However, the Multan RTO collected Rs 46.6 million tax revenue from the overall 481 tax returns filed by the non –filers.

It may mention here that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has announced to extend the deadline for the tax amnesty scheme until April 30 in order to bring more non-taxpayers into the tax net.
