Post Clearance Audit makes recovery of Rs 1.4m from M/s W. Woodward

KARACHI: In response to the audit observation issued by the Pakistan Customs, the Post Clearance Audit Directorate, Karachi, M/s W Woodward Pakistan has deposited the short-paid levy of around Rs 1.4 million to the national exchequer.

According to sources, the PCA Karachi Directorate had issued an audit observation to M/s W. Woodward for short payment of duties/taxes on import of Sorbitol from India. It was observed that the importer imported consignments of Sorbitol 70 percent solution and cleared the same from Customs Collectorate Appraisement East and West without payment of anti-dumping duty at the rate under National Tariff Commission’s letter.

Accordingly, sources added that an audit observation was issued to the importer for payment of short paid / evaded amount of Rs 1.4 million.

The importer, in response to the audit observation, has deposited the amount of duty/taxes mentioned to the PCA Karachi which were forwarded to the Collector, Customs Appraisement East for further action.
