Jhang ASO seizes tyres, Hino Truck worth Rs 2.3m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Jhang, has confiscated smuggled tyres of different sizes and a truck worth Rs 2.3 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 388,011.

ASO Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joyia received information regarding the smuggling of tyres and formed a team comprising Inspector Munir Ahmad, Inspector Shaukat Khan, Sepoys Muhammad Ajmal, Ahmad Bux, Ghulam Sarwar to foil the smuggling bid.

The team held a checkpoint near Jhang bypass Bhakkar Road and intercepted Hino Truck bearing Registration No RIR-7989 and recovered tyres. The officials asked the person concerned to show documents regarding the customs clearance but he remained failed.

Therefore, the goods were seized along with the vehicle under Section 168 and 157(2) of the Customs Act, 1969 considering them smuggled one. The seizure report has been sent to adjudication for further legal action.
