SHC suspends arrest warrants of M/s Roshelle Banquet Hall manager

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday sought comments from additional advocate general Sindh on an application filed by Jamaluddin Ahmed, Abdul Hameed Butt, Rubina Butt against “arrest warrants” of   manager of M/s Roshelle Banquet Hall.

A division bench of the SHC headed by Justice Munib Akhter also suspended the said warrants and continued interim order passed earlier which stated that no adverse action shall be taken against the petitioners without the permission of this court.

Earlier, the petitioners’ counsel stated that they are running a business of Roshelle (Banquet Hall) and had filed online update income tax return and paid income tax for the period of July 1, 2014 to June 2015. However, M/s Roshelle (Banquet Hall) received notice under section 81 and 82 of the land Revenue act, 1967 in the month February 2016, with hold letter “warrant of arrest” on January 18, 2016, wherein it had been demanded a sum of Rs 6,115,000 due against M/s La-Rosh Restaurant, Nazimabad no 4 by Directorate of Tourists Services.

The petitioner prayed to court to declare the warrants as null and void.
