Faisalabad customs confiscates smuggled goods worth Rs 4m

FAISALABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized a huge quantity of electronics goods and other items worth Rs 4 million.

Sources informed Customs Today that Additional Director Azmat Tahira received information about some smuggling attempts. She constituted customs teams  which included Tahir Iqbal (SIO), Asghar Mehdi Naqvi (IO), Tajamul Haq, Muhammad Sajjad (havaldar ) and Khalil Ahmad (sepoys).

The customs team intercepted a bus with the help of motorway police bearing Registration No. LWC-8706 which was coming from Peshawar and heading towards Lahore and recovered smuggled items. The customs team asked the driver of the bus Muhammad Zaman son of Gul Zaman and conductor Noor Muhammad son of  Meer Alam Khan to produce legal documents regarding possession of electronics goods but they failed to provide any relevant documents.

After their failure, the customs team seized the goods and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication for further proceedings.
