Faisalabad ASO seizes smuggled items worth Rs 15.9m in March

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) confiscated smuggled items, including non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 15.94 million during March, 2016.

Following the directions of Faisalabad Customs Collector Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary, the ASO teams conducted various raids to curb the smuggling in the region. While talking to Customs Today, the collector hailed the performance of the officers and officials, adding that smuggling will not be tolerated and for this effective anti-smuggled strategy were being adopted.

As per details, the ASO impounded offender vehicles being used for the transportation of smuggled items, besides impounding tempered vehicles worth Rs 9.35 million.

The officials also confiscated 5485 kilogram foreign origin cloth worth Rs 2.45 million, 680kg Indian tea worth Rs 258,784, tyres and tubes worth Rs 691,917, auto parts worth Rs 259,959 and electronics worth Rs 2.94 million.
