Faisalabad ASO seizes smuggled items worth Rs 3.45m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized smuggled items worth Rs 3.455 million and registered four cases during the last week of March 2016.

Following the directions of Faisalabad Customs Collector Dr Zulfiqar Chaudhary and Deputy Collector  Rana Falik Shair, the ASO team conducted various raids to curb smuggling in the region.

The officials confiscated 135 kilogram of cloth worth Rs 101,115, tyres and tubes valued at Rs 666,000, vehicles which were used for the transportation of smuggled items worth Rs 1.9 million and also impounded a forged vehicle worth Rs 700,000 during the said period.

The ASO team seized the items after the accused persons remained failed to produce document regarding the legal import of the items, besides registering separate cases against the accused person.

On the other hand, Collector Zulfiqar Chaudhary appreciated the performance of the ASO team for foiling smuggling bids saving national exchequer.
