Customs intelligence, ASO to report, coordinate with additional director

LAHORE: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Anti-Smuggling Organization will report and coordinate with additional director, sources said.

Sources on the condition of anonymity told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence Imran Saud Ahmad has barred Deputy Director Saad Atta Rabbani form working as deputy director and ordered to comply with the orders of the additional director, Usman Bajwa. The sources said that the office of the deputy director has temporarily been made non-functional and the anti-smuggling unit will be reporting to the additional director on all operations and crackdowns.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Muhammad Rauf been transferred to law branch and Malik Yasin will be working as superintendent Anti-Smuggling Organization.

Sources said that the new strategy has been evolved following the recent reported incident of kidnapping and release of an inspector Hamid Babar by smugglers near Sundar Industrial Estate.
